Sailing with Cargo

Baggages picked up at various quarters of life - Grey flower carelessly sketched at the corner of a busy page ... an old white and green eraser from an empty classroom ... a piece of string ... another poem ...

Sailing with Cargo

It isn’t such a good thing
After all
To sail with cargo.

Montage and albums
Of moments
Moments
And moments.

Wrapped within brittle pages of Lust for Life
Enfolded in layers of a red wedding drape
Soaked in the last letters from Mejdadu
Saved in a pair of pink hospital wristbands.
One mine. One tiny.
“Jumelia - baby girl - 6.252 lbs - 15 January 2007”.

But it isn’t such a good thing
After all
To keep sailing with so much of cargo

Often space permits not,
Often time and travels,
Often life.

I will therefore
Put ‘em all in my gilded casket
And leave it behind at shore
With you, my friend.

At the end of road
Remember to open my casket
Gently
To let the zephyr of memories
Blow over my final cerement
